Venerable Henriette Delille

I created a portrait of “Venerable Henriette Delille” (1813-1862) for a group exhibit at Stella Jones Gallery in New Orleans called "Made Louisiana" (March 1-April 28, 2018). The exhibit celebrates some of the contributions of people of African decent to New Orleans during the city's 2018 celebration of it's 300 year existence, the tricentennial. Henriette Delille was a free woman of color and mixed race during the time of slavery in the US. She founded an order of nuns that is now called the Sisters of the Holy Family and was dedicated to serving the poor. She is now being considered for sainthood by the Catholic Church.
