October 2014 View this email in your browser Opening for "Our Visions of Home: Recent Work of Amy Bryan and Alma Bryan Powell" September 13, 2014 Dear Friends, Happy fall! Alma and I had the reception for our exhibit "Our Visions of Home" Saturday, September 13th at the New Orleans Healing Center.  It will only be up for a few more days, until October 4th. We were both happy we were able to make it happen, since Alma and I both started new teaching positions last month.  Alma is a new Adjunct College Instructor of Art Appreciation and I am teaching high school and middle school for the first time.  I teach in the Talented Visual Arts program with Jefferson Parish Public Schools near New Orleans.  This includes teaching students tested into the program, who have been recognized as having an advanced understanding of art.  I also teach Fine Art Survey to a class of 9th graders.   Although teaching is intense, I will still make time for doing my art and having exhibits.  I will be participating in a group show at the New Orleans Healing Center this month that opens on Saturday, October 11th.  It is called Suspect 8 and the opening will be 6-9 p.m. on 2372 St. Claude Ave. in New Orleans.  It will be up until the end of November.  If you are in New Orleans, I hope you can make it.  Here are some photos from our exhibit last month.
